STEPPS SIBLINGS JOIN SARALE AND PAHULE AS DUAL WINNERS ON SUNDAY AT DELTA

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (September 2, 2024) – The sister and brother duo of Hayden and Heston Stepps of Oakdale claimed wins during Sunday’s finale for the 2024 Dual at Delta Speedway along with Jeffrey Pahule completing a sweep of the weekend’s Non-Wing features while Stockton’s Caden Sarale won the Super 600 feature. Micro Sprint action at the dirt track sponsored by Valley Strong Credit Union attracted 69 Micro Sprints competing.

In the Winged Super 600 competition on the 1/7th mile track, Rocklin’s Tucker Lacaze was the quickest qualifier before Sarale and Pahule were the heat race victors.

Lacaze started on the pole for the 30-lap event. Sarale knifed to the bottom in turn one and drove past everyone, advancing from fourth into the lead on the opening salvo.

Saturday winner Nate Matherly was gathered up in a multiple car incident in turn three with 17 laps to go. Pahule was a part of two separate rough driving incidents and was relegated out of the event on lap 28, with his championship rival Logan Trevino of Madera running third at that stage.

Sarale led the final two circuits for victory followed by Lacaze, Trevino, Mattix Salmon of Fresno, and Nikko Panella of Stockton.

Non-Wing once again led the night with 31 entrants. Bakersfield’s Jett Yantis was the top qualifier with the three heat races split by Panella, Salmon, and Sarale. The B-Main went to Colin Kirby.

Yantis started on the pole for the 30-lap main event. Yantis held off a challenge from young Brody Rubio of Manteca to lead the first lap. Yantis then slowed into turn three on lap six to end his bid for the win.

Rubio inherited the lead while sixth-starting Pahule motored through the field. A series of restarts kept the leaders close together. On lap 18, Pahule slid underneath Rubio to take the lead into turn two. Rubio tried to answer back but they banged wheels, sending Rubio for a slide to a stop.

Pahule led the final 12 laps for his seventh consecutive points-paying win, followed by Panella, Salmon, Brandon Shaw, and Ryan Holden.

Hayden Stepps won the Restricted feature to complete the sweep of the weekend’s features and giving the points leader five wins on the year. Stepps also led time trials on Sunday night. Heat races were claimed by Brodie Copeland and Clay Mibach as well.

Stepps started on the pole and dominated all 25-laps of the feature. Mibach was second with Vacaville’s Jackson Tardiff in third. Logan Reeves and Austin Lee rounded out the top-five.

Hayden’s younger brother Heston pulled off his third Jr. Sprints win of the year as well. Saturday winner Samantha Dozier, Stepps, and points leader Haven Sherman were the heat race winners.

Stepps led wire-to-wire for a nearly 1.5 second triumph ahead of Lucas Fenn, Dozier, Nathan Fernandez of Tracy, and Easton Wright.

The championship finale weekend awaits at Delta Speedway on October 4 and 5 with points races on both nights of competition.
