Sean Hingorani of Newport Beach, Calif. scored the 2023 Shasta 150 victory then parlayed that into the ARCA Menards Series West championship. 1990 Daytona 500 winner Derrike Cope and many West Coast Stock Car Hall of Famers are among the acclaimed list of former winners in the West Series at Shasta.

Hingorani currently leads the 2024 West Series standings after sweeping the two-race Independence Day weekend swing at Irwindale Speedway. Las Vegas’ Tyler Reif, Loomis’ Jack Wood, Agoura Hills’ Trevor Huddleston, and Las Vegas’ Kyle Keller round out the championship top-five. Veteran drivers such as Nick Joanides, Canadian David Smith, Japanese driver Takuma Koga, and 126-time series starter Todd Souza are expected to compete. Who will win the battle of the veteran drivers versus the rising stars?

The Super Modified time trials will be a must-see, as drivers aim to break the Shasta Speedway track record which has stood since April 25, 2006. Troy Regier then set the standard on the .375-mile layout at 13.48 seconds and 100.14 miles per hour average. Fast time will pay $250.

Local fans can cheer for Paradise’s Unk and Justin Funkhouser. Justin Funkhouser finished in the top-five in three of his five Speed Tour starts in 2023 including a season-best of second at Meridian Speedway in Boise, Idaho.

Central California will be represented by Fresno’s Tim Skoglund, Kyle Vanderpool, and 2022 Speed Tour champion Jim Birges on the expected entry list. The San Jose area has a tremendous Super Modified history dating back 60 years, with drivers Mark Sargent and Mike McCarthy expected to travel north for the event.

The ageless veteran Ken Hamilton, age 82, brings his Hall of Fame resume to Shasta Speedway. Hamilton has not lost his edge as the patriarch of the Hamilton racing family, earning a fifth place finish in 2023 at the Diamond Cup in Idaho. Spokane, Washington will be represented by Frankie Volz, Jr. and TJ Sneva on the expected entry list.

Activities kick off Friday evening with the Hauler Parade at 4pm. Dignitaries will include the Mayor of Anderson Stan Neutze participating! The parade route runs northeast from North Street between Interstate 5 and Highway 273 before making a left on Riverside. The parade then heads for Highway 273 before haulers enter the Shasta Speedway for the Friday testing for the Shasta 150 on Saturday.

Shasta Speedway is located at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson.
